“How many Eggs do you want? 2, 3, 4, 5?” The waitress asked me as a walked into the dining room at 07:30am.

“three would be enough” I said, as I piled bread, ham, cheese and cake onto my plate.

After munching through the lot, I loaded the bike, thanked the staff and met Dylan at today’s supermarket of choice which was SPAR. I got lucky with the water again, filled up my water bottles and we set off.

The cycling today was defined by two things. 1. exceptionally good roads and 2. Exceptional heat.

Yesterday was hot, but today was baking-hot and we really felt it. Even at 08:00am. This is made worse by the fact that the route runs along the top of a levy which runs next to the river. There is absolutely no shade and the sunshine was relentless. However, where the weather made life hard, the smooth tarmac track made life easier and we chugged along at almost 25km per hour all morning.

This is about as fast as you can realistically go with a bike full of gear and somehow we managed to keep it up all day with only a few lemonade stops on route. 4 hours later and we had already done 80km and arrived at the ferry to Mohacs by early afternoon.

During the day we passed through a place called Baja which looks really nice and well worth visiting should you every be in Southern Hungary and looking for a place to visit.

We are now in Mohacs and about to go out for more food, lemonade and beer. Tomorrow we leave for Croatia 🙂
