A fly becomes a Cow

A Dragon vs a Dragan

With one of my favourite regions of Europe (the Southern balkans) fast becoming one of the most dangerous places on the planet – I could rant all night about the failures that’s lead to such a mess but, as I’m not currently informed or skilled enough to do it in a logical, well-argued and readable way – I’ll keep my opinions offline.

This Ecconomist article takes a novel look at the situation though, looking at some ‘pros and cons’ (I’ve taught that phrase to a few Slovene’s) of having a Slovene managed EU to deal with events.

I especially like the line: In the words of a diplomat, when Slovenes and Serb officials meet, the Slovenes “know when the bullshitting has started”.

…I wonder if they knew when I started bullshitting??

Eddy.

PS, I’ve just recieved a message from a friend in Pristina who assures me that things will be OK. Mountains are being made from mole-hills or “a fly becomes a cow” as he put it. Thanks Tim – I hope so.

Oh, and to counter the typical ‘men with guns’ image of Kosovo. Here’s a few alternative views taken this summer.
