“It’s always better on holiday,
It’s so much better on holiday,
That’s why we only work when we neeed the money….”

I’m with Frans on that one.

So, I’m here – I’ve landed. It wasn’t quite the crash landing I predicted but it was slightly ‘bounce a bit and wobble the wings’

Anyway, so far – Finland Rocks. It’s like walking into a real world Glade air freshener, it stays light until 1am, everyone is friendly and speaks English, it’s roasting hot, there’s a death rock festival and I just discovered a women’s pro beach volley-ball event – bikini’s n’all! Oh yes. It’s expensive though, well actually, it’s almost exactly the same as Oxford but when you have to do things all day it adds up. This morning I went to a Lenin museum (he lived in Tampere for a while) and although there’s not a lot of impressive artifacts there are a lot of photo’s and a good historical guide to his life and the October revolution.

So, I’m going to hang around here this evening and maybe do some rocking and tomorrow I’ll be following my inside info and heading to the best public Sauna in Tampere – complete with cold lake to swim in afterwards. Then on Monday I’m going to catch a ferry that weaves it’s way southwards on the lake for 8 hours (It’s a big lake) to arrive in Hämeenlinna – the town of parks.

Watch out for the photo’s and have one of those very reasonably priced English beers for me,

Eddy
