Also (sorry to go political on a Friday but…) when considering the Kosovan right to independance don’t we or, ‘the International community’ have a responsiiliy to consider the plight of other regions such as Transdniestria?. It seems to be universally dismissed as ‘completely different’ by most involved in the current Kosovo negotiations but, I’m not convinced. I suspect it just makes life easier if we’re all told to forget these other (Russian?) problems for the moment. However, I doubt the double-standards will be lost on the populations of Transdniestria et al.
Obviously I see why one is more urgent – I just don’t see why one is more valid.
